► OVERALL PERSONALITY: In an era of rock and roll, Ariel is a quiet, soft-spoken person who is often lost in the excitement of the world. She's very shy and reserved though insanely talented. Ariel doesn't like to talk about her artistic abilities and is very humble when they are addressed; she just loves to paint and draw, she isn't picky about what or for whom. Even though she is attending post-secondary schooling, Ariel really wants to be a working artist. While she may not be the biggest fan of the current music craze, Ariel recognizes it as a huge job opportunity. She is venturing into the music industry, offering to do cover art for the new records and even taking a part time job as a stylist for a band.
Ariel is against drugs, alcohol, and premarital sex. She stands out like a sort thumb in the current pop culture, especially since she's trying to get a job in the industry. Ariel is very dedicated to her beliefs and won't be swayed from them. She is like that about most endeavors, determined and loyal. In friendships, Ariel is a rock of support for someone, to a fault. She'll follow her closest friends into any situation they ask of her, even if is dangerous to her.
Ariel's never been in a romantic relationship and is hestitant about entering into one. She, of course, wants to fall in love but is rather awkward around men, too awkward to engage one. In a time where affection and sex is everywhere, Ariel isn't sure how to react to it all. She has never been kissed and is still a blushing virgin who isn't in a hurry to change.

► HISTORY: Ariel was born to a newly wed couple, three months after their wedding. Her parents didn't like to talk about the fact that they had gotten pregnant before the wedding, or even the engagement, but Ariel knows all about it. She has no qualms about it since they did the right thing in the end, in her opinion. To compensate for their actions, Sheryl and Daniel instilled very strong core values in young Ariel, shaping her character completely. Her current view of relationships is based solely on that. Her parents were upper-middle class and so Ariel was afforded many luxuries in her childhood that others her age didn't have. Everything Ariel wanted, she was given once she earned it. At the age of 5, Ariel asked for art lessons; she did what needed to be done and began learning how to paint and draw. Ever since, Ariel has taken some art class or another.
Naturally, all the courses offered were in traditional art and Ariel felt oppressed by the limitations. In her spare time she began to experiment with more abstract art forms, pop art included, and even took up photography. At age 19. Ariel is still learning the tricks of the trade with photography but has found that she enjoys it almost as much as drawing and painting.
In school, Ariel performed well enough to recieve honors and scholarships but never well enough to be at the very top of her class. A solid A- student, she finished just out of the top 10% of her high school graduating class. Ariel didn't mind that at all, her parents were proud of her and Ariel was able to get into her university of choice. Her parents didn't approve of Ariel taking classes on the other side of the world but they relented once they realized that her entire tuition was going to be paid by the university.
Ariel's relationship with her little brother is rather weak. He has a medical condition that has kept him in the hospital most of his life and her schooling was her priority. She sends him letters and postcards as often as she can while at college. They've grown a little closer now that they've been communicating with the written word more often.
Ariel doesn't have many friends from high school. She was a shy, solitary being who spent more time drawing in the courtyard rather than socializing with her peers. She did attend dances though, rather enjoyed them, and would like to get the chance to dance again. Her modest personlity and her really shy nature prevent her from really cutting loose and enjoying herself in England.

► ROLE-PLAY EXAMPLE: Ariel chewed on her lower lip as she carefully traced her pencil line with a fine tipped pen. The picture wasn't all that important but Ariel liked it. It was so different from anything she had done before. It was different, edgy, even dark. Ariel wouldn't dare to show it anyone, it didn't suit their expectations for her. She was the sweet, quiet girl; her art wasn't always though. Ariel liked to think that her art was an extension of a very small piece of her that she didn't know very well. Ariel used it as a chance to learn about herself. She wasn't a gloomy girl, she wasn't depressed or feeling down hardly ever, but there was always a part that wanted to be.
That part of her was on the paper now. Art was the best therapy in the world. Ariel finished covering the graphite with ink and sat back. She looked over her work mildly, blowing on it lightly to make it dry faster. Giving it a few minutes, Ariel began to carefully erase the pencil marks, leaving room for color.
Ariel had no idea what she was going to do with the final product. Most likely, she would try to sell it to a record store or something. It was her biggest dream to get a job designing album covers for musicians. It wasn't because she loved the music or anything, it was all because of the freedom the music allowed.
There were no rules for album art for popular music. No restrictions, no expectations. It was just....art.
