Character Question!

Hi! Emmy here...

So here's the dealio!...

I have this character Zippy (the drummer) and I want her to dabble in song writing which is something she wouldn't be so loud about. So here's the thing.. I'm a writer but not of songs. Do you think it would be ok for me to use some modern day songs as long as they're fitting (IE: NOT ABOUT COMPUTERS AND OBAMA) and like not.. Super duper hits (aka: J Beebz 'Baby Baby Whateva the hell that is).

Mainly I'm thinking of: Ryan Adams, Dave Matthews, Ingrid Michaelson, and MAYBE some White Stripes.

Once again it'd be maybe 5 songs tops and Zippy is later going to leave the music business anyways.. So it's not like she's performing to millions. I just need something to use/borrow.

Honestly, I say go for it. We all know what would be okay by the lyrics, so GO FOR IT. It makes things so much easier
