Lets begin with a few guidelines. Don't let it frighten you off, though! These won't be too terribly strict. And please read them thoroughly and carefully. There might be something you need to continue to your application...
Rule One: Above all other things, I want this to be a respectful environment. That means no sexist, racist, or otherwise rude comments to anybody on the board (out of character of course). This is by far one of the worst offenses, and will result in immediate expulsion. In character, we understand that not everybody will get along. Out of character, it is forbidden!
Rule Two: This roleplay is based around an era. It is not required that you be a band member, a canon, or even a hippie but keep in mind, it will be easier for you to understand if you have at least looked up some of the canons here (Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc). Check out youtube, ITunes, or even Wikipedia to check out a few of them.
Rule Three: No god-moding. Make sure if you make a character they have flaws. Thats what that section of the application is for. Aside from this, if your character is perfect, nobody will want to roleplay with you. And we do all want to have fun, don't we?
Rule Four: As far as posting goes, please make sure there are no one-liners. Despite being extremely aggravating for your fellow players, and relatively impossible for someone to advance the plot using a single sentence. a puppy is killed every time a one-liner is posted. Think of the puppies. Please aim for a descriptive post. Though we prefer more, for all intensive purposes, the word count is 350 words.
Rule Five: Just so we’re clear, we are not our characters. To show that you know that, please only use third person limited as your point of view. For those of you who are confused as to what that means, please. Look it up before continuing. I’ll wait.
Rule Six: I am not a member of the grammar police, but I would appreciate a best-pitched effort. If you use “internet speak”, you will open yourself up to rude comments from the other people, and notice that people just stop interacting with you, or your character. Don’t force it upon yourself. If it gets really bad, I will ask that you leave until you have learned the English language.
Rule Seven: About characters: there is a list of canons available that are taken directly from the time period. Make sure that at the bottom of your application you write "Act Naturally" regardless of who you choose. That will be how we know that you read the rules.
Rule Eight: Yes, you can play more than one character. However, it is required that you make a separate account for each character that you wish to play. That way, nobody gets confused, and our group looks larger. It’s a win-win, really.
Rule Nine: When filling out your application please fill out EVERYTHING. That includes a role play sample no matter how long you've been around. Doesn't have to be new, except for Cannons, just has to be there.
That’s the end of the rules. Really, there aren’t many of them, and they shouldn’t be that hard to follow. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM one of the staff!
Thank you, and welcome to 'Take A Sad Song and Make It Better'!
