Everyone knew that he was coming back to Graceland today...Well, almost everyone. One of the most important people in the King's life didn't know that he would be returning: Priscilla. He wanted this to be a surprise for her. She was a beautiful young woman who could have any man in the world and, yet, she had chosen a man who found himself right now on the West coast most of the time making movies. She had chosen a man who had been rather awkward in front of the fourteen-year-old upon their first meeting.
And, the biggest one of them all, she had chosen the man who had a manager who wasn't all that keen on the King of Rock and Roll settling down with one woman. Elvis's image was all about sensuous sexuality. A tied down man wasn't nearly as sexy as a bachelor. But Elvis had promised Priscilla's father that he was going to marry her--that was one of his conditions for allowing his daughter to move into Graceland in the first place. And Elvis was going to keep his promise. Yes, he was going to toe the line for as long as he could to keep his manager happy but he wasn't about to let her father down.
Elvis walked up the driveway. He couldn't even remember how long he had been gone. His manager was on a push to get him to make as many movies in the next few years as he could. While Elvis did love to entertain people, even he had a limit that his manager was quickly reaching. It was all about the movies for Colonel Tom Parker and less about the music that Elvis was putting in them. Elvis wished nothing more than for it to be the other way around.
The front doors were opened for him, and Elvis could have sworn that every single staff member was right there to greet him back home. He gave out his hugs and handshakes, smiling all the while. Once everyone satisfied, he asked his simple question. "Where is she?" One of the maids didn't waste a beat in answering that she was in their bedroom.
The King didn't waste any time. He was soon standing outside the closed bedroom door. He could simply burst in and take her in his arms, which would surprise her to a fair extent, or he could do something to surprise he even more. Elvis knocked on the door and, affecting his best imitation of one of the butlers on the premises, which was a pretty darn good imitation if Elvis had to say so himself, he said, "Ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you but there's someone here to see you."

Priscilla hadn't been very busy. Well actually, she wasn't busy at all, ever. Everything was taken care of at Graceland, it always was. She didn't have much to do outside of Graceland, nothing besides missing Elvis to be frank.
It was just another day at Graceland. Breakfast was just cleaned up and Priscilla had retreated to her bedroom. The large, luscious room was filled with things that constantly reminded her of the most important man in her life, besides her father. Some of his clothes, cologne, and pictures lingered in that room. Although it was his home, she considered it hers too.
But there was one thing about the staff that was strange. They were acting weird around her. If there was one thing Priscilla truly hated, it was secrets. Secrets made her worry, an sometimes become paranoid for no apparent reason. She wanted to ask, but she still felt slightly uncomfortable asking Elvis's staff for anything. She wanted to be comfortable with them, but when Elvis wasn't around she felt left out and secluded. Thank heavens he had good phones.
She sat on her bed looking out the window with her silky robe wrapped around her clothes. Why she was wearing a robe with perfectly decent clothes was beyond her, it was just relaxing and seemed to calm her nerves.
Ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you but there's someone here to see you.
[/b] She was slightly startled about that. Pulling off her robe she tossed it to the side. Now? But I didn't know anything 'bout it! She called out, checking to make sure her hair was okay. But she didn't have any makeup on, and her hair was pulled haphazardly into a high ponytail. It was still relatively early and she hadn't planned on going out of the mansion. She pulled open the door and bumped right into whoever was standing in front of the door. Usually the help moved after delivering a message. She looked up to meet those big blue eyes of The King. Priscilla grinned and jumped up, hugging him around the neck. Elvis! You're home! She squealed happily, it was unbelievable that he was really here. It was the best surprise she had received in a long time. Priscilla's first words confirmed that the staff of Graceland had done their job in keeping his return a secret. He was going to have to make sure that he let them know how much he appreciated that. True, even if Priscilla had known of his homecoming, he still would have looked forward to this visit but the surprise made it an added bonus. And when she opened up the door, her rather disheveled look alerted the King that her previous words were nothing but true. Elvis was so used to having to get up early these days that he hadn't realized that an average person would usually still be sitting at their breakfast table, perusing the newspaper and sipping at a cup of coffee.
But, even in her less than ready for the day look, she was still the most beautiful lady he had ever come across. How he had gotten so lucky he would never know. It didn't take long for it to dawn on her that the King was home. He wrapped his arms around her, smiling and letting out a small chuckle as she clearly showed just how happy she was at this surprise. "Oh, you don't know how much I've missed you, Little One," he said. Elvis planted a soft kiss on the top of her head before carefully disentangling himself from her and taking a small step back so he could look at the woman who he had been missing all of these long months.
Elvis led her into the bedroom, shutting the door behind them, knowing that everyone else on the premises would be more than willing to give them a lot of alone time to catch up with each other. He sprawled himself out on the bed, propping up a pillow to rest his head on. Patting the empty spot next to him, he said, "You are a sight for sore eyes." And he was being serious. While there were plenty of beautiful women in Hollywood that he had had the honor of working with, they weren't Priscilla. They lived for their fame, and Priscilla liked to be kept out of the spotlight.

That must have been the reason the safe at Graceland was acting so strange today. Elvis wanted his visit to be a surprise. Could she blame him? Priscilla loved it, the most important man in her life was right here. Of course he could be filming. Of course he could be traveling the world. Yet instead he was here in Tennessee.
Priscilla was young, ten years Elvis's junior. But she didn't care, he was kind and handsome and made her the happiest girl in the world. He was her first and only love.
She followed him into the bedroom and watched as he stretched out on the bed. She leaned against the wall and smiled, taking him in. When he patted the spot next to him she didn't object. Crawling onto the bed she gently rested her head on his chest with a smile. I've missed you so much. She sighed with a smile. Priscilla never was like the other women Elvis was around. She wasn't a die-hard fan, she wasn't in it for the fame or money. All Priscilla wanted was to be happy, and out of the limelight. Elvis gave that to her, and he cared for her. He treated her like a princess.
Priscilla knew that her daddy disapproved of their relationship, and he wasn't the only one. Luckily for her she paid no mind to any of it. She let people talk all they wanted, she was fine as long as Elvis was still around. You really surprised me this time sweetheart. She grinned, leaning up to look into his blue eyes.

Elvis wrapped an arm around Priscilla's shoulder as she came to join him on the bed. He returned her smile. He had already told her how much he had missed her but it wouldn't hurt to let her know again. "Not as much as I missed you." Everyone in Hollywood seemed to be so snooty. There were missing the Southern genteel nature. True, Priscilla wasn't originally from the South but she was a far cry from those Hollywood types.
He looked down at her as she expressed her surprise, as if Elvis needed any more confirmation that he had gotten her good this time. "And I have another surprise for you," he said, offhandedly. He hadn't planned on bringing it up today (wasn't one surprise per day enough?) but, while it was on his mind, he figured he should get her opinion. "How would you like to go to England with me?"
Talks had been in the works for a couple of weeks now. His manager had been contacted by one Brian Epstein who managed, among others, an up and coming band from Liverpool (not that Elvis was sure exactly where Liverpool was in relation to any other English city): the Beatles. Their manager had the brains to know that a meeting with the King of Rock and Roll could only do loads of good for their reputation and publicity image.
Most of the workings for this trip were occurring behind the King's back but he was looking forward to the chance to take an even longer break from his filming schedule and fly overseas. Of course, his manager had been loath to let him bring Priscilla along with him but that was one thing that Elvis wasn't going to back down from. It was one thing to travel in the United States of America and leave her behind; it was another thing to travel to a different country and leave her behind.

Priscilla felt like nothing could go wrong when she was with Elvis. All it took was one of his smiles and she knew, in that instant, the moment couldn't get any better. She knew the deal her daddy made with Elvis, and secretly she couldn't wait for that moment. But with a manager like Elvis's, she knew she would have to wait a while for that proposal. But she didn't mind, she was still his "Little One".
Great, he tested her with his "not as much" pitch. Priscilla could go on for hours about how she missed him more, but he just got home. Elvis needed to win sometimes, even if she was the baby, she wanted to baby her man. Make him feel like a king, and not the king of rock and roll.
Then he said he had another surprise. She sat up with a shocked expression. Really? Another? Wasn't having her honey come home enough surprise for one day?
How would you like to go to England with me?
[/I] She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Priscilla couldn't remember the last time the two took a real trip together. She grinned and placed her hands on his shoulders. Really? A trip to England? I've never been to England before! Oh Elvis, I'd love to! She said with a smile before gently kissing him. It was official, today was the absolute best day ever. Elvis made her feel like a princess. Elvis let his lips linger on Priscilla's. That was the kind of reaction he had been expecting from her. However, there was always a catch in his line of work, and the sooner he let her know just how busy he was going to be overseas the better. He didn't want her getting the wrong impression that this was going to be a real vacation; maybe it would be for her but not for the King. His job never left him, no matter where he went.
"Now, it's not goin' to be all fun and games," he said, "I already have some interviews lined up, and I'm gonna be spendin' a lot of time with this up and comin' young band but I will do all that I can to make sure we have plenty of alone time together." He'd never forget the look on Colonel Parker's face when he told his manager that he wanted to spend a lot of quality time with Priscilla. His manager had forbid him from being seen in public with her; it would ruin his image and all of that same old stuff.
Was he going to listen to his manager? Yes and no. Elvis was going to be careful with where he took Priscilla but he certainly wasn't going to keep her holed up in the hotel room the whole time. He had become quite the expect in doing what he could to keep everyone happy over the last few years. It was hard and stressful work but Priscilla was well worth it. Elvis had never considered himself the marrying kind but he had made a promise that he was going to honor.

Priscilla didn't want to say she knew what was coming next, but that was almost inevitable. Being the girlfriend of such a famous man meant that there was a purpose for everything. Although she had hoped it was just a surprise trip for the two of them. She didn't want to seem disappointed, even though she was. Priscilla smiled and sat next to him. That's fine, I know being big and famous like you means you've got to do things. I'm happy I get to tag along. She replied, kissing his forehead and running a hand though his hair.
At least she knew it was Elvis's idea to bring her. That manager of his was probably totally against it. Priscilla didn't think he had anything against her personally, but Colonel Parker had a certain image for Elvis. Of course, this wasn't the kind of image Priscilla liked to think Elvis fit, but she was already pushing that manager's buttons by simply being with his "money maker".
Elvis did everything he could to make everyone happy. It was so stressful, she could tell. Sometimes he seemed so tired and down, and it seemed like there was nothing she could do. Elvis just had too big of a heart. He tried making his fussy manager happy, and he always managed to make her happy as well. Making the two of them happy was a job alone, as both were so different.
I'll have to pack. They don't dress too different in England now do they? I'd hate to buy all new things. She thought aloud, considering taking her favorite polka-dot dress.

That was just another thing to love about Priscilla; she wasn't in the least bit miffed by his fame. She didn't care that he was always busy and having to run off to do this or that. She probably didn't enjoy being alone all of the time but at least she didn't complain about it. There was a lot of give and take when it came to dating someone who was famous. They both had to give up time with each other to keep Elvis' career going but Elvis always made sure that he took as much time off as he could to spend with his girlfriend.
He let out a small chuckle at her concern about fashion. Then again, Elvis usually had the same concern each time before he went onstage, even though his last live performance had already been years ago. Now, it was more of a concern each time before he stepped in front of a camera in Hollywood. He shrugged his shoulders. "How am I supposed to know, 'Cilla?" he asked, a hint of humor still left in his voice. The only time he had been anywhere in Europe was when he was in the army and stationed in Germany. Those German women had dressed normally so he could only assume that the same held true for English women as well.
"You can hold off on packin' because all of the details haven't been worked out yet. It may be months for all I know before we get over there." He knew that his manager was going to be stalling this trip as long as possible because he was desperate for Elvis to finish up the movie he was currently working on so that they could get something out in theaters while he was overseas. God forbid his American fans didn't have something to hold their attention while he was away catering to a different audience.
