Will's Application!

Click ^ up there for Will's app. I'm going to keep this as short and to the point as possible. Will is a twenty-eight-year-old actor, currently a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He was born and raised in London. He's ambitious, hard-working, and kind to those who deserve it. But he does have a bit of a big mouth and isn't afraid to speak his mind. The only subject he won't touch on is his sexuality. Will is gay and nobody (except his few ex-boyfriends) knows it.



As long as you're character isn't an ignorant idiot or something else along those lines, I don't see why them and Will couldn't get along. He's the kind of guy who always tries to remain optimistic when things aren't going his way and is always willing to try to cheer others up. I'm open to anything here!



Like I said before, Will is gay and very in the closet about it. His previous relationships have failed because either the pressure of trying to keep a secret relationship was too much or his boyfriend at the time wanted him to at least come out to his parents. I'd like for him to eventually find someone who understands and accepts his reluctance to let his parents know or who can convince him that telling them is really the right thing to do. Until that special someone comes along, I'm fine with some shorter term things that just don't work out. Hit me up with any ideas!!!


His big mouth might get him into trouble at some point. I can't think of anything specific at the moment but brainstorming here is welcome as well. The more drama the better! =)

Oh! I definitely *must* bite on this one...

BRIAN && WILL

Brian is the somewhat uptight manager of the Beatles who are currently rising to fame. Besides music he also, unfortunately, has a passion for gambling and 'occasional' drug taking. He is also, as it were, in the closet... Though all of his friends know and even some of his close business partners. He recently expressed his feelings (lust) to Pete Best the original drummer of the Beatles only to be shrugged off and Best was recently kicked out of the band (though for separate reasons). Brian is taking it very hard and is trying to fill the void with young John Lennon though the frontman has no, or pretends to not have, any idea.

So both Will and Brian are hardworking. Brian is also rather soft spoken though he can be very eloquent. He was also a 'failed' actor so the two have that in common though Brian is a tad older. They differ with the fact that Will speaks his mind and won't stop for anyone (Brian tends to only do that in business deals).

I don't know if this is something you'd be interested in but perhaps when Will was younger (early twenties) and Brian was younger (late twenties) they had a bit of a fling that ended for whatever reason. Perhaps Will couldn't commit to a relationship when he wasn't out and saw that Brian was comfortable bringing him around business partners (if only that) who could assume whatever. Also maybe Brian just got tired of him (he would be a 'baby' at the time after all) and broke it off. Whether Will took this hard or not is up to you... Or perhaps they're just friends! Brian loves Shakespeare so he'd definitely know of him at least.

Either way it's entirely up to you! Just throwing some ideas out there.

Will & Brian--I actually love that idea of them having had a little fling in the past. I imagine that right after the breakup Will would have been upset because Brian turned out to be just another guy who couldn't understand Will's need to be mum about his sexuality. Now, since it would be almost a decade since they dated, I see Will trying to put the past behind him and get on friendly terms with Brian since they do share some things in common. So I'm all for a little bit of both of your proposals!

Fantastic! So how long are we going to say this fling lasted? I'm ok with a few nights if that's what you're comfortable with.. However if we make it around two months or more I feel like that's enough to make it substantial enough of a relationship to result in some hurt feelings.

I'm ok with Will seeing Brian as the bad guy in the breakup. Some misinterpretations and whatnot. Heck, Brian probably was the bad guy! In some ways he used poor young Will. I'm thinking maybe when they run into one another again he can start going down that path of using poor Will again just because Brian hasn't had much luck lately as far as guys go.

I also have Emmy and Zippy here if you'd be interested in plotting with them. Their pages are on this board!

Will & Brian--Yeah, I'd say a couple of months at least so I do have a reason for Will to have been hurt at the time back then. And, since I love torturing my characters, I'm up for your new idea of Brian using him again. I think at first Will might be tentative with entering into anything with Brian but then Will will start thinking that because he's older and more mature he'll be able to handle it if things end badly again. And I will check out your other two characters when I have more free time than I do right now.

Ooo.. Perhaps backstage at one of Will's shows? Brian adores Shakespeare (as do all of my characters because I'm a nut myself though Emmy is probably the only one who can quote at length, and Brian would know roles he once had ) so he'd probably check out quite a few shows. And being who he is he'd probably be invited backstage...

That sounds fantastic!!!! It's totally going to be a showing of Othello where Will would have played Iago. There's no negotiating there because Iago is my favorite character of every possible piece of fiction out there. hahaha

LOVE Iago. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him. Got to do one of his monologues for class once. I'm still a Mercutio fan through and through (as cliche and lame as that is with all of Shakespeare's works). Ever since playing that role I just can't get over it.

I did one of his monologues too!!!!!! I took Acting For Non-Majors last semester and one part of our final was doing a minute-long monologue and writing a paper about our character's goals, expectations, etc. I did his "And what's he then that says I play the villain?" soliloquy. And then for my Lit. of Crime and Retribution class last semester I wrote a 14-page paper on him...and I'm taking a Studies in Shakespeare class next semester with the same professor and we'll be reading Othello in that class as well...Okay, time to stop obsessing over him and get to working on the post! hahaha

I'm a big fan of so many of his characters...It would take me too long to list them all but Sir John Falstaff is a notable one.

I watched the movie Othello where Kenneth Branagh plays Iago for the billionth time yesterday and after watching it I decided I'd give myself an impossible task for the future: Watch that movie without quoting a single one of Iago's lines out loud...Impossible!
